Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders — medically known as craniomandibular dysfunction (CMD) — present with diverse symptoms: jaw clicking, pain when chewing, headaches, tinnitus, neck tension or dizziness. At our practice in Freienstein, we diagnose and treat CMD with a holistic approach.
Splint therapy is often the first step in CMD treatment. We fabricate a custom-fitted occlusal splint that relieves the jaw joint and relaxes the chewing muscles. The splint is typically worn at night and during the day as needed. Complementary neural therapy, manual therapy or physiotherapy may also be recommended.
If you regularly experience jaw clicking, headaches or neck tension and your ENT specialist finds no cause, a CMD assessment at our practice can provide clarity.
